The Crow family have been farming the Cherrington farms in Newport, Telford and on the Long Mynd since 1891. Currently three generations of the Crow family farm the land at both locations of the farm throughout Shropshire.
Our animals are farm bred, reared and grass-fed in hundred acre fields on the Long Mynd in south Shropshire to guarantee quality. All of our cattle and Zwartble sheep are reared using these traditional methods in a stress-free environment, as we know this produces the best meat.
We have carefully chosen the breeds of livestock at Cherrington Farm Butchers. Cherrington Zwartble sheep are loved by chefs for the taste and lean quality of their meat. Slow growing and needing more fodder than most breeds of sheep – they are not often favoured by farmers, however, at Cherrington we believe it is worth the extra time and effort to produce meat of exceptional quality. Cherrington cattle are similarity chosen for the quality of their brilliantly flavoured meat.
We are committed to environmental-friendly farming. As part of the Higher Level Stewardship scheme, we foster an environment which encourages a wide range of species of wild grasses and wildlife habitats to thrive at the Cherrington Farm locations throughout Shropshire. We also replant all felled woods with appropriate species of trees for the benefit of the local environment.
We operate a farm to shop direct philosophy in support of our environmental commitment where our vegetables are dug and delivered to our Shropshire butcher shops on the same day. Our potatoes, carrots, wheat barley and maize are all grown at our Newport farm located in East Shropshire.
All of our meat, vegetables and Cherrington Kitchen products are available at our Shawbury and Wellington, Telford butcher shops.
